Etimologie: yoga e diksha

Rito hindu

Etymologies: yoga and diksha

Hindu ritual
Yoga,  word used and abused in the West, is derived from the Sanskrit root yuj, which indicates terms such as union, bond, subjugate. For this yoga is "what binds the individual to the universal, the atman to the brahman, but it also what subdues the senses to allow this union.
Yoga is not only, as is believed in the West, a physical practice that includes a series of asanas (postures) for the well-being of the body. Yoga is one of the six orthodox darshana, philosophies or points of view of the Hinduism.
This doctrine is divided into eight disciplines, it speaks of the 'Eightfold Path', one of which is the one of the asanas or positions.
Understood in the sense of "practice" there are many types of yoga.
Another key word of Hinduism is diksha (or deeksha), which indicates the initiation, the moment when the boy of the three upper castes is introduced to the teachings of the guru (see etymologyor the ceremony of initiation into a particular Hindu discipline, with particular reference to Tantrism.
The deeksha is to be celebrated by a guru who whisper in the ear of the disciple the mantra (see etymology) that the young bring with him self and will repeat throughout his life. Without having received initiation, you can not even listen to certain teachings of the guru.
The etymology of diksha is not unique. Some people derives from the Sanskrit root  da which means to give and from the root kshi which means to destroy. In this sense, the term diksha refers to the destruction of life and the gift of another one, a kind of rebirth that is confirmed by the fact that members of the three upper castes are called after initiation dvija ie, twice-born.
Other etymology of the word diksha derive from the root diks which means to consecrate or to dedicate.

BJP triumphs

One party has the absolute majority of seats in the Lok Sabha, the Indian Parliament.

The victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP ), the Hindu nationalist party led by Narendra Modi which is symbolized by a lotus flower, has been more overwhelming than any better poll, winning 283 seats out of 543 available.
The majority of which will have Modi is even more overwhelming if you think that the coalition that supports him, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA ) won 337 seats, while the Congress-led coalition scored just 58 seats .
The opposite side of the coin is given by the collapse of the Congress Party led by Sonia Gandhi and Rahul (both re-elected), which goes beyond the worst defeat of the polls, so that the historic party of Nehru and Gandhi has gone under the two-digit winning 43 seats compared to the previous 206 seats. In practice, the party which led India to more than fifty years after independence, has been swept away. Consider that only in the state of Uttar Pradesh, BJP took more seats than the Congress has taken all over the country .
The only country left in the hands of Congress is Kerala, where, however, the BJP won for the first time in history a seat. In the rest of India the BJP victory was unique.
The victory of the BJP, characterized by a liberal economic policy and a strong religious and nationalist connotation, was greeted by a sharp rise in the Bombay Stock Exchange and many spontaneous demonstrations.
Poor also the result of the party Aam Aadmi Party, the party of corruption that took only 4 seats.
The turnout was high, with 66.38 % of the voters it is the highest of all time in India.
Narendra Modi sworn in as Prime Minister on 21 May.

"Do what your conscience tells you"

Do what your conscience tells you and your strength permits you to do. What others may advise is not one’s dharma. Dharma is what a man himself believes to be such. How can another man know our heart? You should, therefore, pray to God to help you recognise your path. He is the only true guide.”
This, on August 10, 1935, Gandhi wrote to Bhujangigal Chhaya in a letter which, along with another, was auctioned last week.
The text is very significant and in line with the ethical principles of Hinduism and, in particular, with the message of the Bhagavad Gita, text beloved by Gandhi.
This is the concept of svadharma or individual, personal dharma. In Hinduism there is not a morality which applies to everyone, but a morality which applies to a particular person, at that particular time and social context. This does not mean ethical relativism nor means that everyone chooses the moral he likes most, it means the need for everyone to know himself in order to identify his own dharma. It is a fundamental and personal commitment - as Mahatma wrote in that letter Mahatma - no one can help us but God.
The text of the letters is in Gujarati language, the language of Gandhi, one of those is a handwritten and one typed and signed by the Mahatma and which have been sold respectively to 1,500,000 rupees (about € 18,000 ) and 900,000 rupees ( approximately 11,000 Euros ).
