108 for Alice, what a wonderful number!

A few days ago my daughter graduated. After the discussion of her thesis, we awaited the verdict and talked abaut the vote who would have been assigned to her. Taking into account the average of the ' book' (sum of her exams) and the type of the argument of the discussion, we thinked a vote between 104 and 107, if it went well, 108.
To which my 'Indian mania'  has taken over. "You have to get 108, it would be great, it is one of the most sacred number in Hinduism. Here, touche the colorful cord that I took in Mysore in temple of the goddess Chamundi. "
Laughing and joking we then went in the auditorium where the President of the Committee of  proclaimed degree. The vote was 108!

And then let's talk about this issue and its significance in Hinduism.
108 are the seeds of the rosary Indian Japamala (click here),108 are the names of the main deities and their acting (japanama) is beneficial.
The main mantra (i.e. Om namah Shivaya) to be repeated 108 times.
The Sanskrit alphabet has 54 letters that have the shape of male and female: 54X2 = 108.
The Sri Yantra (click here), the most sacred of Yantras, also has 54 intersections both male and female, and again returns the number 108 .
108 are the energy lines that lead to the heart chakra.
At the churning of the primordial ocean (samutramanthan, click here) participated 54 gods on one side and 54 demons (asuras) from the other for a total of 108.
The Krishna's gopies are 108.
Traditionally, the Upanishads, the sacred texts of Hinduism are 108.
108 are the sacred places for the devotees of Vishnu.
It is said that the number 108 represents the Trimurti: Brahma is the number 1, the 0 represents Shiva and Vishnu 8.
In astrology, the planets are 9 and the houses in which they 'enter' are 12, 12X9 = 108.
From a mathematical point of view the 108 has many features, one of these is the be iperfattorial of 3: 11×22×33 108.
In geometry are 108 degrees of the five corners of the regular pentagon and the regular pentagon is the polygon of Shiva, the fullness of the universe, being the union of the woman (number 2) and man (number 3).
And finally: the average distance between the Earth and the Sun is 108 times the diameter of the Sun itself. And the Sun's diameter is 108 times that of the earth. The average distance between the Earth and the Moon is 108 times the diameter of the Moon.
In short, a wonderful number. Alice Brava!
